Ernakulam Public Library has been part of the social and cultural fabric of Ernakulam, and surrounding communities since 1869. It seeks to inform, educate, entertain, and culturally enrich the entire community by providing books and other library materials and facilities. Ernakulam Public Library is the oldest Public library in kerala, which was open to the public from its very inception. It was started by a number of public spirited persons and had the blessings of the then rulers of Cochin.
